RAJGIR

Rajgir is situated 84 Km. away from Patna. We had one day trip to Rajgir on 22nd March 2015. The journey was short and pleasant. Delicious Prasadam was made by Dhiren Nayak, Lucky Kumar and other club members. The coordinators for this trip were Deepak Chandapure and Raviteja B. Vishwa Shanti Stupa, situated 1000 ft. above the ground on a hill, is the main attraction. All the members decided to climb the hill by foot and it was really exciting and adventurous. It is a magnificent place with scenic beauty and spiritual aura. The whole journey was made memorable by the continuous kirtana and the talks given by Dr. Ranjan Kumar Behera. After visiting some nearby places, we returned to Patna.

SRI MAYAPUR DHAM

Mayapur, an island in the Navadweep district of West Bengal, is the birth place of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. It is due to His causeless mercy that we had the chance to visit Mayapur. We boarded the train from Patna to Vardhman. Mayapur Devotees arranged temple taxi and we safely reached Sri Mayapur Dham. After reaching Mayapur, we visited ISKCON Shri Chandrodaya Mandir where Panchatatva, Narsmha Dev and Radha Madhava with Ashta Sakhis reside. Just a glimpse of them filled our hearts with ecstasy. After the darsana, we attended a video lecture of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, and then visited many popular & sacred places like Bhakti Vinod Thakur's school and Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's birthplace. They are the most important places among the Vaishnavas, and so are always crowded with devotees. The Mayapur Dhama is the original home of all the living entities, Vaikuntha on earth. We returned with blissful hearts, filled with unparalleled love for Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

FESTIVALS

SHRI Krishna JANMASHTAMI

Janmashtami, the appearance day of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krishna is the most important festival for one and all. It was on this eighth day (ashtami) of the Krsna paksha of Shravana month that Sri Krsna appeared in Mathura. Lord Sri Krsna was born to Mother Devaki at midnight in the prison house of Kansa, and had shown His four handed form to His parents just after His birth. The Bhaktivedanta club celebrated Janmashtami with great enthusiasm. The preparations had started a month earlier, with various committees setup for different purposes. On the occasion of Janmashtami the Club organized Vedic quiz and painting competitions. The Janmashtami day was celebrated with many cultural activities such as devotional dance, kirtan, drama and cultural fancy dress. The melodious sankirtana and the enlightening seminar by Dr. Ranjan Kumar Behera on Krisna Consciousness were the major attractions of the night. There was active participation from more than 800 people from all over Patna, along with the IIT Patna fraternity. Prizes and certificates were distributed among the winners and participants of different events . The program ended with mid night kirtan and Abhishekam of the Lord, followed by delicious prasadam prepared by Dr. Manoranjan Kar. The atmosphere was charged with immense love for Krsna, which seamlessly mingled into everyones hearts. Dr. Sanjoy K. Parida coordinated the whole program.
