This is the blog on my experience of Mayapur, especially written with the pen brought from ISKCON Mayapur. Our journey starts with singing Narshima Prayer in the car.
With lots of rush in road traffic, we finally reached Patna station on scheduled time to catch Garib Rath train. In the train, we did kirtan which attracts nearby spectator and few of them didn’t hesitate to bring their palm together. They wouldn’t able to stop themselves from reciting the ecstatic Mahamantra.
We then read Srimad Bhagavatam where Krishna and Balram pastimes were mentioned. We came to know about the games played by them. Then we had prasadam, thanks to Anshuman Prabhuji, Anupam Prabhuji and Atul Prabhuji who prepared very nice Prasadam for us in short time. We then had one round of chanting. It was around 9:30 pm, we catch our respective seats. Next morning, the train was little late but we finally reached Kolkata station. We then board a train for Krishna Nagar. Throughout the way, we met several people who seemed to be inquisitive about us. They asked who we are, from where we came and what is this bag which is hanging from our neck and many more.
Finally, we reached Krishna Nagar, the place from where we started seeing devotees around. We hire 3 wheeler rickshaw that took us to the Ghat from where we went on a boat to finally reached SRI DHAM MAYAPUR.
We then went on a rickshaw to reach the temple.
We started getting a glimpse of on-construction temple dome. Finally, we reached SRI MAYAPUR CHANDRODAYA MANDIR “Temple of the Vedic Planetarium”. We started getting fresh, wore Dhoti-Kurta, put Tilak and headed to Pandal.
It seems to be a continuous recitation of something which is quite pleasing to hear. Yes, it was Bhagavad Gita recitation on the occasion of Gita Jayanti. We were so fortunate to become part of that. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada. We recited around 4 chapters over there. We did Parikarma. There we met Dr. L Behra Sir from Kanpur and their students. Then we head to Gita-Bhavan where we had Prasadam. From there we went to visit Temple of Vedic Planetarium which is under construction. In the way, we met a devotee from Russia who already spent time in Patna distributing Bhagavad Gita.
Then we reached to TOVP. There was a Prabhuji who guided us for the Planetarium visit.
Then head to Ghat for Boat Kirtan where we did Kirtan, had lecture and listen the story behind various rivers present there. It was such a pleasant experience.
We then offered the lamp to the temple on the Ghat and moved back to the Temple. In the way we saw foreign devotees, doing San-Kirtan and it was great motivation to saw them.
Then we went to Temple for Gaura Aarti and there we danced a lot. There was Ekadashi on that day and throughout we didn’t feel any fatigue. And the prasadam we had, it is even hard to think that there can exist such large variety of Ekadashi Prasadam. Then we came back and went to bed.
Next morning, we wake up sharp at 3:30 AM and went for Mangal Aarti at 4:30 AM. It was such peacefully and transcendental, that whenever I try to remember that, the hairs on hand automatically stand. We offered water to Tulsi Maharani and then chanted.
Then we went to break the fast. And in the meantime, we visited the park over there and saw the beauty of nature.
Then its Darshan Aarti time, where Prabhupada was being carried on palanquin by devotees throughout the temple. There we had a full energetic dancing kirtan. Then we went for Nagar San-Kirtan in the town. We went to see a tree which is around 100s of years old.
We had a lecture over there by L.Behra Sir and then we headed to Jagannath Temple where we had dancing Kirtan, lecture. We learned about how Lord Shiva got Bhagavan’s Prasadam from Narada Muni and he danced and when he told this to Maa Parvati then she started doing austerity. And many more stories too. We had a couple of rounds of chanting in the forest deep inside that area. We then rush back to the temple to have prasadam and then quickly head to Nabadwip Dham Station to take a train to Howrah. Throughout the journey, we did kirtan. Fortunately, we were able to distribute one Bhagavat Gita on Howrah Station. Our train arrived and we reached back to IITP.
It was around two days only but we got to learn a lot of things. We would like to thanks Sir and all the Prabhuji’s for this successful trip.
